The Healing Process and its Subtleties

This is a discussion which arises frequently with both patients and students of homeopathy.   I enjoy this discussion immensely because it moves past the obvious physical changes which occur during the healing process, and enters a more subtle world of expression.

I always find it fascinating how a patient’s language changes when healing is taking place, how the landscape of their dreams point towards the journey they are on revealing not only remedies but a practice they can utilise to go deeper within themselves.   Their sense of humour returns, and there is a whole feeling of lightness about them.

They may suddenly decide to make changes in their life with regards to relationships, careers or even travel.   These are all important somatic expressions of the deep shift which has occurred or is currently occurring within them.    Oftentimes, they have coped much better with a situation than they would have normally.       This type of change is always the synchronistic hint, that deeper change is taking place and often will arise before the physical changes.    Sometimes, however,  it may even accompany the physical changes.   All individuals do it differently.   Of course, that is the beauty of homeopathy, one is seen as a unique individual and treated accordingly.     When we see the patient as a unique whole, we learn so much, not only about the patient, but about ourselves.  That of course, is the gift, we receive from meeting them as they are and who they are, and assisting them to meet whatever is arising for them, without taking off from it, and simply being present to it.   This takes a lot of courage, and of course, the rewards are there.   (C)
